Subject: Settlement of Seized Grain - Lavreault

I have just finished speaking to Paul Adams (Country Services) and Gordon Lily (Legal Dept) at the CWB concerning the COD grain that we have been holding on behalf of Public Works Canada.

What they have told me we at UGG must do is as follows:

  1. Settle all grain as Non Board (use July 25th broadcast)

  2. Deduct the "94 Advance" value per tonne for ONLY the Wheat and Barley tonnes being purchased (I believe that is $43.00 - Barley and $55.00 - Wheat)

  3. Issue the cash tickets to "Public Works Canada" and send them in to my attention Wpg  28th floor so they may be forwarded on with a letter to Public Works

  4. Grain Accounting will forward payment for the "94 Advance" collected to the CWB by separate cheque with an explanation letter as well.

Manitou will need to cancel CT# 2167775 2 and 2167776 0 (I have these) and reissue as above.  Mariapolis has not settled to date and should just follow above instructions.

Please call me at 944-5545 if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Brian

Handwritten note: The CWB didn't blink an eye to violate their own Act by ordering UGG to price milling wheat as off-board feed wheat.
